Home Based Business - Eleven Best Kept Secrets to Success on the Internet

Home based business secrets to success are sold everyday to unsuspecting marketers hoping to make some money on the Internet. I say unsuspecting because they believe that there is some magic formula that will turn their business into a multi million dollar success overnight. Online marketers are willing to pay big bucks for those secrets.

The Internet has been described as the new frontier for entrepreneurs. The Information Highway has mushroomed into a global network that continues to spread its reach on a daily basis. Every day thousands of people log onto the Internet for the first time. Many want to try their hand at building a business to make money online. The Internet does make it possible for anyone, regardless of experience, to make it big online.

1. Starting a home based business online is very simple. You can literally do a search on Google, Yahoo or MSN, find a business opportunity and be a business owner the same day. Finding the right company, with the right product and the best compensation plan is part of the challenge. All too often entrepreneurs look at the surface information and jump in without doing a thorough analysis of the company.

2. Affiliate business can make you rich. Everything you need to start a business online is ready to go the minute you affiliate with the company. Choose a company with product or products that you like, want to use and can be passionate about. If you are not sold on the product yourself, you will not be able to sell it to others. Every compensation plan is different. Make sure you understand what it is you will need to do to earn money.

3. Building a home based business is all about relationships. Mean what you say, say what you mean and do what you say. Honesty, integrity and commitment shine through your voice when you talk to people. Your actions or inaction will be noted by those you come into contact with. Whether an individual decides to go into business or not you want them to have a good impression of you.

4. There is no such thing as free. Everything has a cost or a consequence. Something of value is perceived to be free if what you give to get it has a lower perceived value. For example the price for a free e-book, report or tool such as an auto responder or an ad blaster, is your contact information and permission to e-mail you. Building a business for free will attract people who will return less than the perceived value of what they are getting. Think about that when you are tempted to join a free business.

5. There are costs involved to building a business. Most affiliate programs require a monthly commitment for product purchase in order to be able to earn compensation. You may also have some advertising and marketing costs. If you don't have a budget that allows you to purchase advertising, plan to work harder. Elbow grease can cut down many of your marketing costs.

6. People will do what you do. Actions speak louder than words. You can talk the talk but if you don't walk the talk it is unlikely anyone else will either. Like it or not you are the role model for the people who join you in business. They will do what you do, so if you do not like how your business is growing take a look in the mirror.

7. Turnkey business does not mean instant success Turnkey means you will have everything you need to start your business. This includes product or service, web sites, marketing tools, promotional and advertising materials. It is up to you to turn the key and start driving your business. You are responsible to put all your tools into play and to get your information onto the Internet for people to find.

8. Search Engine Optimization - SEO - gets your business noticed Search engines rule the Internet. When you are looking for anything online you go to a search engine and type in the words you believe will give you the information you want. Learn and implement SEO techniques to get your web sites to the front pages of relevant search results.

9. Keywords matterChoosing the right keywords to promote your business can make a huge difference to your visibility on the Internet. Keyword research will help you to choose words that people many people use to search for products or services similar to yours. To beat the competition you have to be consistent and persistent with your SEO strategies.

10. There is no such thing as Get Rich Quick There is no business anywhere that will build itself, someone else will build for you, or will make you rich overnight. Forget this notion, treat your business like the million dollar business it is and get out there and build it.

11. Every business needs customers Without customers you will never have a successful business. Customers purchase your product or service because they like them. They have no expectation of earning money as a result of their purchase. The more customers you have the more successful your business will be.

Home based business opportunity success secrets are really just good business sense. The real secret to success is hard work, done consistently, over a period of time. On the Internet hard work is different than in the offline world only in the sense that you can do everything from your computer keyboard. You don't need to stock shelves or sweep floors but you do need to pay attention to your marketplace and do everything better than anyone else if you want to be noticed.

Working online does not mean sitting in your living room, with your feet up, watching TV and hoping that your information is reaching multitudes of people while you relax. It is up to you to create and run your advertising campaigns, provide information and training to your prospects as well as your business partners. It is not up to someone or something else to build your business. It is up to you! There are many tools, techniques and technology available to help you.

Working with a team can greatly impact your effectiveness. A good team will be there to support you and help you every step of the way. Working with a team does not mean that everything will be done for you. It does mean that you can benefit from the skills of others and learn from people with experience that you don't have. Teams are valued resources in just about every industry. It is a proven fact that more can be accomplished with a competent team than by working alone.

Success is waiting for you to reach out and grab it. Now you know some of the most basic of secrets it is time to roll up your sleeves and start working toward success in your home based business.

Your Corporate Website The Best Kept Secret on the Internet

Perhaps you've experienced the following...your company has just launched a brand new corporate website which cost $50,000. It looks great, has some snappy flash animations and strong messaging. Your organization does $10 million in gross revenues per year, and your website is expected to generate at least 10% of that...or $1 million in sales. Piece of cake to meet quota, right?

Many businesses fail to grasp that website development is only the first step to making online sales. Just because your developer created an excellent website according to your specifications does not mean that your site will rank in the top group of search results for any keywords relevant to your goods and services (other than perhaps your corporate name). Without search engine visibility, your prospects will have little chance of finding your website and your company will see, at best, a minimal boost in its Internet sales volume.

Fortunately, your corporate website need not keep its anonymity. For minimal additional cost, your company can transform the site from online deadweight to search engine heavyweight. The following two-tiered approach will work wonders:

Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is the science of naturally achieving top rankings in the search engines for revenue-generating keywords. "Organic" website creation rarely creates any of the components necessary for search engine success. So, to bring your website to the top of the engines, an SEO campaign would need to do the following:

Provide optimum keyword density for your targeted keywords.

Trade links with many other webmasters that run relevant websites (extremely important).

Make sure that other aspects of SEO (i.e. page length, title tags) match up with accepted standards for search engine success.

Note that search engine optimization success does not happen overnight...it might take 2-3 months before your company sees results from your SEO efforts.

However, your business need not wait that long to generate online revenue...you can implement a Pay-Per-Click advertising campaign and make sales immediately. Pay-Per-Click (PPC) is the ability to bid your company to the top of the search engines for your targeted keywords. The two major vendors of Pay-Per-Click ads are Google AdWords and Overture. If you have accounts with both, you will be better positioned to reach potential customers in all the major search engines. When creating a PPC campaign, you need to address the following issues:

Keyword selection. If you don't select keywords broadly enough, you won't reach all potential prospects. If you select keywords too broadly, you will be spending money without making sales.

Keyword bidding. In every keyword list, some are overpriced and some are bargains. Also, it is a myth that you need to be the high bidder to generate the most revenue...frequently, ROI is better when you bid less.

Ad Copy. Does your ad copy contain your targeted keyword? If not, you are probably not getting an optimum click-through rate.

Landing pages. If you are sending all your prospects to your website home page, you are not maximizing sales conversion. Top performing PPC campaigns create special landing pages that reflect the particular keywords selected.

Without search engine marketing, a corporate website has minimal ability to generate revenue. Effective SEO and PPC campaigns not only allow companies to make sales quotas, but have tremendous ROI and the cost per lead for search engine marketing, according to a recent report by U.S. Bancorp Piper Jaffray, is far lower than any other sales lead generation method.

The Best Kept Secret on the Internet

Many practices invest significantly in professional web sites with comprehensive user experience testing. Many medical practice web sites can cost thousands or tens of thousands to create, test, and implement. However, if your site isn't listed high on the top search engines, then it could be the best kept secret on the internet.

Just investing significantly for developing a comprehensive, professional web site doesn't ensure top rankings on the search engines. Unlike the saying in the movie Field of Dreams ("If you build it, they will come") - just building a web site isn't enough for medical practices.

SEO vs. PPC

Every practice's web strategy should include Search Engine Optimization (SEO). Some practice's should also consider Pay-Per-Click (PPC) marketing, depending on their competition for search engine placement. SEO is often referred to as "Organic" or "Natural" search engine optimization. Google, for example, has a complex formula ("algorithm") for determining a web site's ranking. Google is notorious for constantly changing the algorithm of its search engine (many of the other search engine's are similarly complex).

Finding and using the right keywords associated with your practice is only the first step. You also need fresh content added to your site consistently and you'll need to resubmit your content to Google to stay current. Backlinks or the links that others link to you are very important. They show that someone out there is interested in your content and that someone is willing to drive traffic to your site. Backlinks from higher ranked sites improve your rankings as well. Consider linking your site from vendors, referring practices, and your social media sites, like your Facebook fan page and Twitter account. This builds both credibility in social media, a slight boost to rankings for search, and increases the positive user experience of someone trying to find all of your different web presences.

To ensure that you get listed highly, consider doing Pay-Per-Click (PPC). These are the "sponsored" sites that are listed on the top left and along the right side of any given search. You only pay Google a fee if a prospect clicks through to your site. However, you must understand that just because you may be the highest bidder for a given set of key words, you may not be listed first. The highest ranking could go to a competitor if they have a higher Google ranking, which measures the overall "quality" of the site. Therefore, you need a professional, quality site, as well as an SEO and PPC strategy.

Internet Marketing Services - Best SEO Services

Internet marketing refers to various activities one can do online to promote his business. It includes search engine optimization (SEO), social media optimization (SMO), content writing for blogs, articles and webpages, content optimization, participation in discussion forums, directory submission, document sharing services, RSS feed submission services and much more. All that to make yourself more visible online and attract potential customers enough to go to your website and return every other time they need your services.

Internet marketing is a fast growing field because internet usage is growing rapidly all over the world and it is a fast and cheap way to target specific audiences. Internet marketing is a great addition to traditional marketing measures. Web marketing is something that almost all companies should include in their marketing plans and strategy to not miss out on prospective customers from all over the world, because on the 21st century most companies are not competing anymore on just local or national markets. It is survival of the fittest and the most innovative companies will take away all customers from their more stagnant, slow and expensive competitors - no matter where they are.

Search Engine Optimization

In short search engine optimization or SEO means getting your website on top of search by fulfilling all search engine robots' requirements and making it easy to find you for people who are interested in your products and services. It is a way of bringing together buyers and sellers by following the rules of SEO - fulfilling the criteria that search engine robots are trained to look for and evaluate.

There are different ways and tricks how to make yourself well noticeable online and come up on top of searches like using popular related keywords on your site. Using just popular keywords many times on your page will not help because search engine robots have developed into a stage where they will figure out if you try to cheat and punish you for that with removing you from their catalogue or worse.

SEO is a great way to gain noticeability without paying for advertising but it might be even more effective and when people come to your page through optimized searches, it is already clear that they are not random visitors but people interested in the same things as you and you can probably be useful for eachother.

Choose search engine optimization as a part of your internet marketing strategy to attract the right audience! Pay less and gain more or get noticed by more people than you could dream of online for free! Four Cost-effective Internet Marketing Strategies

Everything is measurable when it comes to Internet marketing. That's why it is the perfect choice for your limited marketing budget during this recession. Use measurable Internet marketing strategies to target a customer's decision to buy, rather than just boost brand awareness. Researchers at Forrester see interactive marketing formats like pay per click and social networking as perfect ways to engage customers and start conversing. Increasing engagement is more likely to generate sales.

Individuals are more likely to become loyal repeat customers through positive online engagement than they are as passive TV viewers. Why? Because studies show that consumers will sacrifice cable TV when money runs tight before they'll give up their Internet and mobile phone accounts.

How well do you know your target audiences? Before you charge full steam ahead with any Internet marketing campaign, you must first clearly define your key target audiences and create a profile for each segment.

Measure outcomes to determine what actions you want your visitors to take. This "look before you leap" step is critical to your online marketing strategy. You must identify your key performance indicators (KPIs) to help you structure your Web site and measure its performance.

What problem are you solving? Now that you understand your target audiences and you know what KPIs to measure, your Web site must address your customer's problem and solve it. If your content does nothing more than pat yourself on the back, you miss the opportunity to connect with your customer, make him smarter, and solve his problem. Use your expertise and channel it through online content to educate your prospect and he will bookmark you as a resource.

Four Cost-effective Internet Marketing Strategies

Now that the foundation of your Internet marketing strategy is set on three stable legs, including defined key audiences, measurable KPIs, and problem solving, it's time to address four cost-effective Internet marketing strategies to get the most bang for your buck!

1. Analytics - Measure, Track, Assess, Target

Remember, everything is measurable in Internet marketing. How do you measure? Use analytics. The key is to know what to measure. That's why identification of your KPIs is essential.

Analytics helps you understand your visitor because it tracks where they came from and what they did on your site. What path did your visitor follow to conversion or where did they exit before converting? Analytics takes the guesswork out of Web design changes and guides modification to improve conversion rates and customer satisfaction.

2. Pay Per Click Advertising Delivers Qualified Leads

Pay Per Click advertising (PPC) delivers immediate, measurable results because it directs your defined audience to your Web site.

Does PPC work? Yes, if done right. LogiXML, a background - developer of Web-based business intelligence tools, saw their leads increase more than 50 percent from January to April 2009.

PPC can help your customer find you because your ad and budget can get your Web site on the first page of results for applicable keyword searches on Google, Yahoo! and Bing. These ads are often listed by the phrase, "sponsored by." If you use the search terms your customers use to find your product or service, they can find you online!

3. Social Networking Builds Relationships

A growing number of people use social networks for business and pleasure. While still young in its development, now is the time for your organization to develop a social strategy and use this powerful new outlet to build and strengthen relationships and brand awareness.

eBizMBA ranked the 20 most popular social networking Web sites in May 2009 using the combined criteria of inbound links, Alexa rank, and U.S. traffic data from Compete and Quantcast. The top four included Facebook, MySpace, Twitter, and LinkedIn.

The American Association for the Advancement of Science, (AAAS), uses social media to enhance membership interaction and attract new members. It launched its first page on Facebook in June 2007. The Science Careers fan page currently lists just shy of 5,000 members. This presents another way to meet members online.

4. Search Engine Optimization (SEO)

When someone types your keywords into a search engine, then visits your site, it is no different than him calling to ask a question. Upon the initial visit, that prospect believes you can solve his problem. The question is do your SEO efforts prove him right or are you using the wrong keywords and links to attract the right customer?

Full-fledged SEO is a complicated process of writing relevant content built around keywords you've researched, an inbound/outbound/internal linking plan, competitive monitoring, and more. If you want your site to benefit from a comprehensive SEO approach you should consider hiring an SEO consultant to implement an overall plan; however, there are still many SEO tweaks you can make to your Web site that don't cost a dime and that can, over time, improve your Web site's search engine rankings and qualified traffic, including submitting to niche directories, blogging, visiting your competitors' sites, using Analytics to find keywords, and updating your content.

While you may need to tighten your belt to ride out the recession, you must still maintain an online presence. Four cost-effective Internet marketing strategies can stretch those dollars and pinpoint your target audience: analytics, PPC, social networking, and SEO. When combined, these key elements of your Internet marketing plan will keep your organization's name visible and help attract qualified leads.

How to Cost-Effectively Market Your Pain Management Practice on the Internet

Marketing for a pain management practice can be a very competitive situation. Pain management as a medical practice can be a highly profitable venture, however, a lot of pain practices have figured this out so it can be a competitive marketing problem to acquire new patients.

Here are 5 Internet marketing tips that can help you acquire new patients to your pain practice.

1. Write a lot of articles. The main thing is that this takes an investment of time. As long as you know the material such as information on the various injections for pain control and pain medications, then you already have the knowledge base. What you then need to do is take the time to produce content for blogging and submitting the articles to directories. This should not be done once a month, but rather a few times a week in order to increase your exposure. Ezines.com is great along with other article marketing softwares.

2. Publish press releases on a regular basis. Make sure to use one of the very good press release services. Sometimes the ones that are cheaper are not very good and the distribution is poor. So stick with the well-known ones even though they may cost a little bit more such as PRWeb. Make sure to place appropriate calls to action into these press releases such as potentially offering a special for new patients if it is allowed in your state and insurance contracts.

3. Submit your practice to all of the free directories on the Internet that you can. These are not going to yield hundreds of new patients a month. But people do look at them such as YellowPages.com, Yelp, Citysearch, and others. So making sure that you submit your pain practice to any one that you can find including the local directories may help you acquire business that once again only cost you some time.

4. Request internet reviews from your patients. Over two thirds of individuals read reviews prior to making a purchase. Medical practices are no different so reviews from your patience should be sought. This will serve two purposes. One is that prospective new patients may see these reviews on internet, and also when the patient puts a bad review on internet all the good ones will over shadow it.

5. One of the most important highlights of your practice is your website. Make sure that it is attractive and functional, which means that you have optimized content for search engines and enough pages to keep viewers on your site long enough to have them pick up the phone and call. Make sure your phone number is very visible and also you should have a news section or a blog so that people see you offer education.

Utilize these Internet marketing tips and over time you will see that you do acquire patients in a cost-effective manner over the Internet.

Internet Marketing Newbies - Secrets For Newbies on How to Go to the Next Level

This article internet marketing for newbies has a lot of straight, plain talk you probably won't hear anywhere else because not all of it "pitches good." No bull. You won't hear much of this talked about other than here.

*  How to overcome mistakes

Let's say you screw up or make mistakes. So? You thought you were God? Only God is God. Everyone else makes mistakes and screws up.

How do you overcome mistakes?

You sell enough stuff and big enough ticket stuff that it doesn't matter. You create a sales machine, so you have the room to make mistakes and not suffer.

*  How to find the time

You may say, "But how do I find the time for all of this?"

If you use webinars or teleseminars as the basis for your product creation, it doesn't take that long.

If you learn to interview people in your products, so that part or all of the content is theirs, it doesn't take that long.

You've got to focus on what pays your bills - learning to create sales messages that get people to buy then getting those sales messages in front of the right people.

*  How to get traffic

One of the perennial questions is, "How do I get traffic to my web site?"

This usually means you're still in the "web site creation" model. The idea is that your job is to "build web sites." And somehow by building or assembling lots of web sites, your bills will get paid. That's OK for newbies just getting started. You can pay a few bills that way.

But you've been there and done that or you wouldn't be reading this. So let's get real. You get paid when someone buys something. Plain and simple.

Getting thousands of people to your web site makes you zilch.

Would you rather have 1,000 visitors who do NOT buy or ONE who buys? I'll take the one who buys. The BEST traffic bar none comes from your affiliates. Chances are, you've been sucked into the idea of being someone else's affiliate. And I love affiliates. Affiliate marketing is a GREAT way to get started in this business.

But the best traffic comes from affiliates. And affiliates send traffic to the offers that get the most bux per click. And the secret to getting most bux per click is split testing and learning to craft super powerful sales messages.

Nothing happens until someone buys.

And no one buys until someone sells.

Here are your best traffic sources:

a. Getting affiliates to promote your products

b. Article traffic

c. organic seo

d. ppc

e. banners

f. cpa traffic

We could debate the order of some of the above. But you can write or get written and submit dozens of articles a week and get traffic that way. You can buy ads.

Here's the thing: It ALL works and pays your bills as long as you have a SALES MACHINE that follows up and gets people to buy over and over and over again.

Without a sales machine, not much above will work. As long as you write the articles yourself, article marketing will. If you have a sales machine, it ALL works.

* The bottom line

The thing that separates the newbie from the next level up is the willingness to create and the willingness to sell.

Here is what I think:

a. It sounds good in theory

A lot of these people give you 2 or 3 examples of sites they created in a few hours that bring in $30-$100 a day.

But they don't tell you they had to create 10 or 20 to find those.

The same thing for those super big  campaigns that make your eyes bug out. They don't tell you they created 100 to find that 1 to give you as an example.

b. The person has a very high skill level

I've seen people who actually DO this. And they have a very high skill level that few people could match. If you're a genius, a lot of doors open up to you.

c. The person skews the truth

The pitch doesn't necessarily lie but it omits key facts.

d. The System isn't evergreen and will be "broken" in 6 months or a year.

If you want to build a solid business that will be around 5-10 years later, learn how to get people on a list and get 'em to buy stuff.

White Hat Vs Black Hat Internet Marketing Practices

White hat, black hat, and gray hat are terms often used to describe the aggressiveness of internet marketers or website developers, especially regarding practices used to get search engines to give a high ranking to websites (SEO). But what do the terms mean? It depends on who you ask. There are at least three ways to understand white hat vs. black hat practices.

1 - White hat is considered entirely ethical, while black hat is considered unethical. Gray hat, then, would be something in-between: ethical to some, but perhaps not to others.

2 - A white hat marketer is not at all aggressive in promoting a product, service, or website and chooses to let traffic develop naturally. (In reality, there are probably no white hat marketers if you look at it this way.) A black hat marketer, then, is extremely aggressive in promoting a product or website. At this end of the spectrum is the danger of unethical practices. (There are a large number of these out there.)

3 - White hat practices are just shrewd methods of working within the current system, doing anything that is acceptable to search engines. Black hat marketing, then, would mean using tactics that flout the search engine rules while trying to avoid getting caught.

Since there are no written rules beyond search engine guidelines, determining where you should be on the spectrum can be a challenge. If you're working online as an internet marketer, though, you need to determine which you're going to wear: a white hat, a black hat, or a gray hat, no matter how you define them.

You probably already know this by now, but in order to make money online, there are some choices you'll need to make. Okay, let me warn you, there are a LOT of choices you'll need to make. For example:

Should I work for someone else or should I begin an at-home business and work for myself?

Should I do it all on my own or get some help?

Should I learn from this expert or that one?

Should I use this tool or that one?

In order to make your decisions you probably ask other questions:

What goals do I have?

How much time do I have to invest?

How much money can I spend right now?

But sometimes we need to ask additional questions, especially when determining what to promote and how aggressively to do so. Here are some that I often ask myself:

Is it good for others as well as for myself?

Could I defend my decision to God and to the people I love and lead (like my children)?

Can I keep the promises I'm making?

Would I pay for the product or service I'm promoting?

Would I want others to promote this product or service to someone I care about?

If others used this practice with me would I feel deceived?

Could there be unforeseen negative consequences if I do this?

If you've bought many products from internet marketers trying to "teach you how to do it," then you've probably encountered some people who didn't seem to ask themselves this last set of questions. I've certainly been exposed to a few. Yet, I've also met some I highly respect and trust. The internet would be improved, in my opinion, if all internet marketers would not just tell others what to do and what to buy, but would also ask a few more questions.
