How To Increase Your Website Ranking Using SEO

When you have a website, one of the best ways that you can gain rankings for it is by using SEO techniques. Search engine optimization is one of the best kept secrets that many of the top website rankings have been using for years and in this article, we are going to explore some of the same strategies that they have been using for quite some time and that is how their websites rank the highest. Wouldn't it be the best thing in the world to Google specific keywords and your website pop up as one of the first websites? Well, that is what we are going to teach you.

One of the first things that you need to know is that you should use keywords and anchor text. The reason for this is because that is how search engines like Google pick up on websites. Google actually uses keywords to find websites and you will see, on some of the top ranking websites on Google, they are all keyword-driven.

When you are choosing keywords though, you want to target them toward the specific product or the services that you are using. That way, when the customers search for specific keywords, your website will be brought up. This is a great way for your website to gain more hits and it will drive more traffic overall.

The next step is to get a lot of inbound links to your website, you can do this via article directories. What this means is that you can write articles that include SEO keywords and have a link to your website attached at the bottom. This is a great way to gain more exposure to your website and get the rankings up. Remember search engine optimization is easy to do and it makes a huge difference.

SEO - Make Your Website Google Friendly

The exact workings of Google computer programs are kept secret for obvious reasons but basically Google has downloaded the entire internet onto its computers and has indexed and arranged all that information so that it can easily find what you need when you want it.

Now with regard to your SEO what you need to bear in mind is that you need to make it as easy as possible for Google to find your web pages when someone is looking for information you have.

As Google wants to give the best service to its users it only wants to offer relevant search results so you have to make sure every part of your website is relevant to the keywords you want to target.

To make it really clear I like to think of it as labelling, if you label various different parts of your website with your target keywords, Google can easily see that your website is all about a specific subject, and when someone searches for what you offer Google will see your labels and put you right up there with other website that have similar labels on their website.

If think about when you are in a Library, you usually go to a particular section in the Library and start looking at the spines of the books to see if anything looks relevant, the next thing you do it look through the contents of a few books to really get a feel for what is on offer. If you can instantly see what you are after you will investigate further.

So, to make Googles job easier, label all the elements of your web pages with your target keywords and Google will start including your website in its search results.

Most SEO companies tell their clients that it Search engine optimisation is very complex process and confuse them with all the technical jargon and then mention the fact that it is going to cost so much. To be honest, it is more time-consuming than it is complex, but it still doesn't justify the prices that these SEO companies are charging upfront and on a monthly basis.

So it may be worthwhile for you to invest some time on keyword and phrase research for your website SEO.

The most important part of your website succeeding and ranking high in all major search engines are the keywords that you use on your website. There are many ways of researching and finding the right keywords to utilize on your website.

With almost every industry fighting fiercely to get their websites ranking high in all major search engines, it becomes harder to promote the same keywords as all your competitors that have a website on the web already. This is where the research of the keywords that are related to your business comes into play and will help you beat your competitors to rank higher.

There are plenty of tools on the internet that you can utilize to find these keywords, the best one is the one that Google provides, and after all they dominate the internet and have the data and information to tell you exactly the way it is. The information that is at your disposal in this tool is invaluable and it will be the only tool you will use and believe it or not it is FREE, that is right it is FREE to use.

The following link is a Free link to this very important keyword research tool http://www.googleeasysearch.com. What you will see are keywords that are related to the keywords you typed in, you will see 3 columns, competition, Global monthly searches and Local monthly Searches.

The competition column shows how competitive that particular keyword or phrase is.

The Global monthly searches column shows how many times that keyword is being typed in the Google search engine on a monthly basis worldwide.

Is Your Website An Asset Or A Liability for Users and SEO

Remember back in the good ol' days when having a website was something every company needed and wanted? Websites were the wave of the future, and the dream of transitioning to conducting business online filled our heads with visions of a revolution in the way commerce was conducted. With a website, a company could reach clients and interact with potential customers on a global scale. A website was indicative of a company's technological prowess, symbolic of the desire to innovate and evolve with developments in the industry.

Today, this mindset has changed drastically. We all know that we need a website, but many of us think that simply having one is enough. In fact, there is research indicating that many firms with an online presence haven't touched their websites in years. They haven't spent any time improving functionality and appearance, and they have yet to consider the basics of website usability and the inherent potential of search engine optimization (SEO). Of course, we all recognize by now that having a website is an essential business asset, if it's done correctly. It's easy to see that if your sight is an outdated eyesore, it becomes a liability that hurts you more than it helps you. Conversely, a well-designed site can make all the difference. It's the first place users go to research your products and services, making your site a lead generation and CRM tool, sometimes even a storefront.

We've all heard the adage about first impressions, and it's no secret that they're the most important factor in the way people remember their first encounter with you or with your website. On one hand, a well-designed, user-friendly website will showcase your business and your brand, impressing clients. On the other hand, an outdated and otherwise bad website can hurt you far more than it can help you in this case, as potential customers will eliminate you as a possible vendor after only interacting with your brand and substandard website for only a few minutes.

I'll utilize a real estate analogy here to expand upon this thought. You'll impress guests when they arrive at your home if its clean, well-kept, landscaped, painted, and overall welcoming. But if you arrive at a home that's dilapidated and falling apart with chipped paint and an overgrown lawn, you'll think a lot of less of whoever lives there. Are they lazy slobs? Maybe. Or maybe they just haven't had time to take care of the property. Either way, your first impression is less than positive. We all try not to "judge a book by its cover," but in an online atmosphere when that's all you've got to judge a company by, their website is their cover, the digital face they present to the world. In the information age, you can't not judge the book by its cover.

So this must leave you wondering: Is my website an asset or a liability? By answering the following questions, you can find out if it's time for an overhaul or just some simple changes. Or maybe your site doesn't need any work at all. Ready to find out?

Home Page

Can visiting users tell immediately who you are and what you offer?

Is your site organized in a clear fashion that promotes navigation?

Did you maintain best practices of user-friendly web design?

Is your home page an information destination or just a messy landing page?

Does your home page give a good first impression that entices users to click through your links?

Performance Issues

Do your pages, images, videos, and other content load quickly?

Does your site utilize clean, un-bloated code?

Does your site have a "search" function? If so, is it fast and useful?

Have you performed quality assurance testing to ensure your site looks the same across different browsers?

Content Is King

Is your content written clearly and persuasively? Does it speak to your target market?

Have you included useful and relevant resources like case studies, success stories, white papers, articles, or links for example?

Does your content effectively describe the your products, services, and benefits?

Is your content written for SEO? Is it keyword focused (5% - 7% density) to cater to users and search engines alike?

Links & Navigation

First and foremost: Do all your links work?

Are your links clearly marked?

Do your links utilize descriptive and enticing anchor text?

Is your navigation menu or framework consistent throughout your site?

Does your navigation menu provide access to your entire site?

Critical Pages

Is there a top-level page that describes your products and services?

Do you have an "About Us" page to describe your company?

Is the "Contact Us" page clear, informative, and thorough?

Do you have a page where users can ask questions or answer their own?

Is the "Contact Us" page clear, informative, and thorough?

Do you have a Testimonials section?

Do you have a blog that you update frequently?

Do you have social bookmarking buttons to take advantage of Web 2.0 technologies?

Usability

Is your site organized so that information is easy to find?

Do you have a site map that wire frames this organizational structure and links to all your pages?

Is your site "user-friendly?"

Is your type scannable, easy to read, and written for the web?

Do you utilize bullets, headlines, and other stylistic elements to organize and present content?

Do you have calls to action that prompt users to take desired actions?

Are you using Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) to control the layout of the site?

Search Engine Optimization (SEO)

Is your site search engine friendly?

Have you optimized your site for specific and relevant keywords?

Have you acquired a network of high-quality, relevant links?

Have you utilized online PR or social media marketing for its SEO benefits?

Have you optimized your rich media assets? Video, images, podcasts, etc.

Does your navigation menu provide access to your entire site?

Are you using web analytics to improve conversions and track ROI?

Now that you've answered all of these questions, you need to decide what to do next. Start with some competitive analysis to see what your competitors are doing and what you need to do to catch up. Then, survey users to see what they think and act upon that feedback; don't wait, evaluate and reciprocate.

So make as many changes as you can to improve your website, turning it back into a business asset instead of a liability, and watch as your web presence creates leads and ultimately sales that impact your bottom line.

The Best Kept Secret Of Website Ranking

Simple Steps To A High Ranking Website.

Are you tired of spending hundreds and thousand of dollars to whatever ways you found on the internet? Are you tired of spending days and months trying hard to find ways to get your website seen by people? Are you tired of pleading your friends and families to help you optimize your website in the search engine?

Now Guess How I know these........ Cause I was a victim too. This article is written keeping in mind all those people who have great ideas to put up in a website but doesn't have the money or knowledge to get the site up and running on the search engines. Remember no matter how good your website is if your site doesn't come within the first three pages of the search engines the truth is "YOU DON'T EXIST".

You must have spent a lot of money already, got frustrated in return.. well, some may be still lucky if they haven't gone through this process yet and just might find my article at the right time.

To start with I will walk you through a simple process of 3 steps. These steps are basically-

1) Submitting to the proper search engines - Have you come across sites which claim manual submission of your site to 100, 200, 500 or even 1000 search engines for rates only $XXX., well if you already haven't paid them yet, you are lucky. Do you really think they do it manually to 1000 search engines? Well even I thought that initially. There is software available in the market by which you can submit to not only in hundreds but to even thousands of search engine in minutes.

2) Step 2 is submitting your site to the directories. Its the same story again isn't it. Sites claiming to submit manually to 300, 400, or even 3000 directories manually for only $XXX. Yeah right manually. Had this been true do you really feel it's worth it, logging into each and every directory making an account and posting the site information one after the other, Most or all of them are done through automated software.

3) Writing articles and submitting to good article sites ezines and soon you will find traffic flowing to your site.

SEO Services, Your Remedy to Website Success

You already have a spanking new website uploaded on the internet. This website is now supposed to boost your business growth rate by a factor that is supposedly unimaginable, because you have virtually reached the global market, and you are now presenting your products and services to a global community. However, some weeks or months later, you find that your website produced zero traffic and the only visitor to that website was you. "Somethings definitely wrong", you ask, puzzled. The answer is not all that puzzling after all, as the problem lies in the web's most best kept secret, Search Engine Optimization, or SEO for short.

SEO or Search Engine Optimization is the ability of your website to be found by web surfers who are using popular search engines to type in relevant keywords that are directly related to the niche market of your website or business.

SEO Services open up a new world of improvement for thousands of websites, because of its apparent dissociation with general website design services. Many web designers are very passionate about the appearance and design elements of a website, because they are driven to have a website be as aesthetic and friendly as possible. Most people wrongly assume that designers will take care of their SEO needs, i.e. traffic to their websites or website popularity.

This is where SEO services take center stage.

SEO services are based on proven techniques, methodology and tactics practiced by specialists and professionals to enhance the popularity and visibility of a website. The strategies used would vary from market to market as well as the complexity of the market, competition and target audience. The assessment would usually come after a consultation and a "check-up" of your website, most reputable SEO Consultants provide you with a free consultation to establish the need and strategy, after which you could decide whether to retain their services.

SEO services are done through ethical white hat methods which will only propel your SERP (Search Engine Results Page) ranking, as opposed to getting your website banned. Black hat or unethical SEO techniques and methods are used by many SEO Companies in order to gain results fast, but hardly ever stand the test of time, most of these techniques will get you banned or penalized in the long term with no hope other than to abandon your domain name.

Nonetheless, ethical SEO services are still a must for a business that wishes to truly increase its client base. A good analogy is likening your website to a billboard placed in a remote and uninhabited part of the world, with SEO being the construction company building the road to it for visitors and traffic to see your site. With proper SEO services on your website, you would soon find the number visitors, rankings and popularity of your site increasing as efforts to your success online is made.

Your Corporate Website The Best Kept Secret on the Internet

Perhaps you've experienced the following...your company has just launched a brand new corporate website which cost $50,000. It looks great, has some snappy flash animations and strong messaging. Your organization does $10 million in gross revenues per year, and your website is expected to generate at least 10% of that...or $1 million in sales. Piece of cake to meet quota, right?

Many businesses fail to grasp that website development is only the first step to making online sales. Just because your developer created an excellent website according to your specifications does not mean that your site will rank in the top group of search results for any keywords relevant to your goods and services (other than perhaps your corporate name). Without search engine visibility, your prospects will have little chance of finding your website and your company will see, at best, a minimal boost in its Internet sales volume.

Fortunately, your corporate website need not keep its anonymity. For minimal additional cost, your company can transform the site from online deadweight to search engine heavyweight. The following two-tiered approach will work wonders:

Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is the science of naturally achieving top rankings in the search engines for revenue-generating keywords. "Organic" website creation rarely creates any of the components necessary for search engine success. So, to bring your website to the top of the engines, an SEO campaign would need to do the following:

Provide optimum keyword density for your targeted keywords.

Trade links with many other webmasters that run relevant websites (extremely important).

Make sure that other aspects of SEO (i.e. page length, title tags) match up with accepted standards for search engine success.

Note that search engine optimization success does not happen overnight...it might take 2-3 months before your company sees results from your SEO efforts.

However, your business need not wait that long to generate online revenue...you can implement a Pay-Per-Click advertising campaign and make sales immediately. Pay-Per-Click (PPC) is the ability to bid your company to the top of the search engines for your targeted keywords. The two major vendors of Pay-Per-Click ads are Google AdWords and Overture. If you have accounts with both, you will be better positioned to reach potential customers in all the major search engines. When creating a PPC campaign, you need to address the following issues:

Keyword selection. If you don't select keywords broadly enough, you won't reach all potential prospects. If you select keywords too broadly, you will be spending money without making sales.

Keyword bidding. In every keyword list, some are overpriced and some are bargains. Also, it is a myth that you need to be the high bidder to generate the most revenue...frequently, ROI is better when you bid less.

Ad Copy. Does your ad copy contain your targeted keyword? If not, you are probably not getting an optimum click-through rate.

Landing pages. If you are sending all your prospects to your website home page, you are not maximizing sales conversion. Top performing PPC campaigns create special landing pages that reflect the particular keywords selected.

Without search engine marketing, a corporate website has minimal ability to generate revenue. Effective SEO and PPC campaigns not only allow companies to make sales quotas, but have tremendous ROI and the cost per lead for search engine marketing, according to a recent report by U.S. Bancorp Piper Jaffray, is far lower than any other sales lead generation method.

5 Amazing SEO Tricks to Help You Bring Loads of Free Traffic to Your Affiliate Or AdSense Website

When it comes down to it, making a website with affiliate links or AdSense is a relatively easy job when compared to the various applications of SEO strategies. It is the bringing in of free, targeted traffic to your website that is the difficult part (and the crux of your revenue). Anyone can buy traffic using AdWords or other monetary methods. But not everyone knows the proper search engine optimization techniques necessary to rake in tons of free traffic, rank in the top page results of the various search engines, and make loads of money on commission. SEO is a difficult and enigmatic field of study with many ever-changing factors that play a vital role in your success. The search engines have their own code on what constitutes as an exemplary website that they can index and rank at the top. Super affiliates hold 3-5 hour seminars and teach entire courses on how to crack this code! SEO is not Easy!

So how can you optimize your website to get tons of free traffic and rank at the top with the best search engines. What is this SEO recipe? There are 5 major components to this. These are, creating proper meta tags with proper keywords for your website, the number of directory submissions, the number of reciprocal links to your website, the number of inbound links via articles, forums, classified ads, etc; and timely updates to your website. So let's analyze every member of this list:

These days you hear a lot of talk about how search engines don't look at meta tags anymore in order to properly index and rank your website. This is not entirely true. Placing the proper meta tag title, description, and keywords in your HTML coding will give your website a HUGE boost of credibility in the eyes of the search engines. Always place proper meta tags on your website no matter what anyone says!

Submitting your website to as many directories as possible will help you rank high with the search engines. By finding as many directories as possible and submitting your website to them, you are gaining exposure and inbound links via searches. When search engines such as Google index your site, they weigh in this factor and directly use it to determine just how important your website is to the internet. Submit your website to at least 50 directories!

Another great way to gain page rank with search engines is to have as many backlinks (or reciprocal links) as possible. This is when you agree to directly link to another website, in return for that website linking directly to yours. This could very well be the most powerful method to gain page rank, get indexed, and attain top search results of all the SEO strategies described in this article. However, overdoing it will not be to your benefit. A good way to backlink with other websites is to do it with the every directory that you are submitting your website to (the same directories that I spoke of earlier). Directory links will give your website tremendous validity because essentially you are linking to massive online networks this way. So make sure you opt to make reciprocal links with all the directories you submit your website to. You can also buy backlinks from prominent websites!

Always try to get as much free inbound links as possible. Don't ever quit! Keep writing and posting your links throughout articles, blogs, forums, press releases, classified ads, online groups (such as yahoo answers, Google groups, twitter, etc), Squidoo, social bookmarking, email lists, AdWords, and as many others as you can think of. All of these inbound links will add up very quickly, and will prove to the search engines that your site is important to the web community.

Finally, after doing the previous four steps that I have mentioned, your site should be indexed, have a high page rank, top listing with search engines, and should be getting floods of free, targeted traffic. However, you must keep updating your site with new material if you want to maintain that status. Without this last step, you could loose a lot of your hard-earned SEO points if the search engines declare your site stagnant. Don't let it happen to you!

These 5 tips are great search engine optimization tactics, and are exactly how I get floods of free traffic to my websites. Application of these 5 rules will get any website indexed and ranked in the top listings for most major search engines. These 5 steps are exactly what SEO is all about!

SEO - How Do I Give My Website a Quick SEO Tune Up

Cars need tune ups and airplanes go into the hanger to get optimized for the next flight. If you are a web owner that has the "upload it and leave it" mentality, consider adding a weekly or monthly tune up to your website. Ten to fifteen minutes here and there can only do one thing-make your business more successful.

1. Start small with the meta information.

a. Examine your Title meta tag on each page. Do they describe the page contents? Do they contain the right keywords to drive traffic to that page? Is at least one part of the Title geo-specific? Example, "Attorney, Los Angeles, CA" and not just "Attorney" or "Lawyer" for "My Law Firm."

b. Examine your Description meta tag. Make sure that each page, if it is at all possible, has a different meta tag description. Google does not like repeated information.

2. Check your links. Use a free online program to make sure you don't have any broken links. Go to your favorite search engine and type in "free link checker" and use one that looks good to you. You would be surprised, it's very easy to have a typo in a link that may have added and not checked. Search engines frown upon broken links.

3. Do a little marketing. Go to your favorite search engine and search for something you do or sell. Let's say you are a dentist. Perform two different kinds of searches, global and geo-specific. Example: 1. "dentist," global and 2. "dentist, (city), geo-specific. Examine the backlinks of the top websites in the search results to make sure that you are also on the same business directories, blogs, or other kinds of websites. You can do this quickly using a "backlink checker." You can easily find a backlink check through a quick search engine search.

Steps 1, 2, and 3 can be repeated daily, weekly, monthly-whatever your schedule allows. The next 2 steps go a little deeper into your maintenance plan.

4. Google Analytics. It's free, it's easy, and it's extremely useful. If you aren't paying an SEO company to handle your website, you should definitely take advantage of this amazing tool. Google will give you a unique code to put on each page you want to track. You don't need to be a programmer to figure it out. It's just a few lines of script that you paste into your webpage exactly where Google shows you to do it. It really is as easy as it sounds. And what do you get? You find out how many people are visiting your website, what keywords brought them to your website, what websites referred them to your website, where they are from, how much time they spent on your website and much more. This is an amazing free treasure trove of information. You will find out if the people visiting your website are, in fact, the type of visitor you are targeting. If not, all you have to do is tweak your meta tags and your content to let the search engine know, for example: you want people who were searching for "logo design" not "graphic design" or "child therapist" not "couples therapy."

5. Alexa. Alexa monitors traffic levels for websites, while some argue that it's a flawed system, it is still used as a measuring stick to gauge your website. Why should you be interested? Let's say you own a flower store in Boston. You look up your competitor and find that they have an Alexa ranking of 79,000 and you have one of 8,500,000. This is a quick indicator that THEY and not YOU are getting a greater percentage of the flower shop web traffic in the area. Additionally, the more traffic you get, the more likely your organic search engine results will go higher. Marketing activities that increase web visitors will give you a better Alexa ranking. Across the board, SEO experts agree that if you download the "Alexa Toolbar" and visit your website once a day, encourage friends and colleagues to download the tool bar and visit each other's websites-that this will increase your Alexa ranking, too. It's a simple thing to do, but don't expect dramatic results. The best use of your time is simply to try to get targeted visitors to your website through standard marketing channels. That is always the bottom line.

Generate Website Traffic Using This Free Method - Powerful SEO Trick!

We all know that more targeted visitors we get to our site, the better it is for us. So here is how to generate website traffic with one, very simple, SEO trick. It will not cost you anything at all.

In any niche, you have competition and often brand names you are competing with. Now, the best part is that with this seo trick you will be driving their traffic to your own site and of course with the white hat method.

So here is how it works. You take the product name and search for very LOW competition keywords. Those keywords really should be keyword phrases. Such as: how does "product name" works. Or can the "product name" really help!

Now, you will have to really respond to user question. Second, what most people do not realize is that these low competition keywords are very easy to find and very easy to get on the first page of Google. And that is done with one way links! Those you can build with softwares such as senuke OR you can get someone to do some effective link building. For small competition keywords sometimes all you really need is 2-5 links. And that is it.

Also, when you write the response to the questions potential users of that product are asking, make sure you send that traffic to "alternative offer" which is your own product or a free guide.

With this free method to generate website traffic, you not only end up generating targeted traffic but traffic that will most likely convert into customers.

How to Increase Website Traffic - Simple But Important SEO Tricks

Search engines like Google, Yahoo, and Bing help people find companies and services online. For businesses it's an excellent opportunity for free marketing. But if your website shows up on Google page three or higher, chances are that companies with better ranking will snatch potential customers from you.

This article talks about how to improve search engine optimization (SEO), how to get the most out of your keywords, and how to make your website more visible to Internet users.

Choose your keywords carefully

When coming up with keywords for your web copy and SEO strategy, find a balance between words that are specific for your business and words that people actually type in the search window. For example, if you specialize in wedding flowers arrangements, the keyword "flowers" is too general and wouldn't do much for you. "Wedding bouquets" is a better choice. "Yellow chrysanthemum", on the other hand, is too narrow.

Do you need some inspiration? Here's a trick: go to the website of a competitor that ranks well. In the web browser menu, go to View and View source. A new window will open up with all the information about that page. Look for meta keywords and you might get ideas for keywords to use, or not to use, on your company site. We don't recommend being a copycat, hopefully your website has something very unique to offer, but it doesn't hurt to check out what the competitors are up to.

When you incorporate your keywords in the website copy, make sure to include the most important words in the first paragraph of each page. Finally, keep in mind that you write for humans, not for machines, so don't overstuff your copy with keywords.

Understand the use of meta keywords

It's important to point out that meta keywords won't do wonders to SEO and website traffic. In fact, many search engine algorithms don't care much about meta keywords. However, as long as you do it right, it doesn't hurt to have them. In my opinion, having 5-15 carefully chosen meta keywords per page is better than having no keywords at all.

While general meta keywords won't have a great impact on ranking, putting keywords in page titles (or meta titles) can make quite a difference. Instead of having ordinary page titles like "Welcome to Company X" or "About", make sure you have descriptive page titles, for example "Welcome to Company X, Specialist in Y, City State" and "About Company X, experts in Y products".

Alt tags and alt titles are text that describes images. It shows when the mouse hover over an image, or when a picture doesn't load properly. Again, they don't do wonders to SEO but it doesn't hurt to have them.

In the end, the most important place for keywords is in your website copy.

Avoid competing with the whole World Wide Web

It's extremely tough for a small business, or a start-up company with a brand new website, to compete online with literally thousands of companies in the same industry with bigger marketing budgets. If you own a local business that only serves a certain city, state, or even country, zoning in on your geographical area can improve your ranking. If applicable for your business, include geographical areas in page titles, meta tags, website copy, and in other content elements of the website.

For example, if you own a small florist shop in Tampa Florida, the keyword "flowers" is like a needle in a haystack. Google it and you will get about 150 million hits. "Floral services Tampa Florida" on the other hand reduces the search engine competition significantly.

Images and videos make crawlers blind

Search engine spiders don't see images, flash videos, slide shows, etc. If your homepage is nothing but pictures and banners, search engines won't be able to crawl the page and take information from it. It's just as if the page were empty. So make sure you have at least one or two paragraphs of copy (text) on your pages, especially on the homepage.

Be inviting - Have control over Meta Descriptions

Meta descriptions are one or two short sentences of what a webpage is about, and on search engine sites they show up as preview snippets underneath the page title. They are important because people read them and determine if the site is of interest. If you haven't entered any meta descriptions, the search engine will take whatever it can grab from the page, and it's not always what you want Internet users to see. Also, if your homepage has a lot of images, the crawler can't read the page, and it will grab the few random word it can see on the site. Google sometimes ignores the meta descriptions and grabs text directly from the site, so again, make sure to have at least one paragraph of quality copy on each page.

When you write your meta descriptions (or web copy paragraphs) you want them to be descriptive, informative, and inviting. Have a look at your ranking competitors and ensure your preview snippets are the best.

Link building - A way to increase popularity

Popularity is important for search engine ranking, and links are a way to measure it. The more web pages that refer to your site, the higher the likelihood to rank well. The higher you rank, the more people see your site, and the higher the odds are people will talk about it on the web. And around and around it goes. In other words, external linking is good. Contact companies you trust about exchanging links, write a blog, and share your links in respectable and appropriate forums. But be careful not to overdo it, nobody likes an annoying spammer.

A word of caution: there are companies out there offering linking services or link exchange programs. Don't end up in so-called bad neighborhoods, a.k.a. websites with questionable content. It could sabotage your ranking. Do your homework before you buy any link building services.

When it comes to internal linking (links within your own site), avoid the generic "click here". Instead, create link text that describes the link well, e.g. "information on server virtualization".

How do I know if my efforts are paying off?

After you've put all this hard work into choosing keywords and putting them in various places, you want to find out if it's actually working. The obvious step is to enter your keywords on different search engine sites, and see if your website shows up on the first page. You may also notice a rise in inquiries about your company, or even better, an increase in sales. But in case you don't get the ranking results you were hoping for (keep in mind it can take time), you need black on white website data in order to analyze and improve your web traffic.

Google Analytics and Google Webmaster Tools offer great free online devices for accessing information about your website visitors and their behaviors. And remember, whether your results are fantastic or you get a bit disappointed, nothing on the web is static. There's always room for changes and improvements!

Next step - Attractive and persuasive website copy

Once your website attracts more and more visitors, you need to keep them interested and inspire them to come back for more. In my article "What makes for great web content " I talk about important factors for successful website copywriting, such as attract visitors with compelling text, easy-on-the-eyes website structure, and how to convert visitors to customers.

Why Is Effective SEO Website Optimization So Difficult

There are many ways business owners and marketers can effectively optimize their website's search engine rankings in today's highly competitive online world. But the truth is that the vast wealth of possibilities does not make it any simpler to see natural SEO traffic results to a new comer or a company attempting to do this work on their own.

Gaining organic rankings is something that every company can find valuable, no matter the market or niche they are in. When you can maintain credible first page and #1 spots on highly competitive and converting keywords, you have a clear advantage against your competition. While others are forced to pay per click via ads, you're able to get better traffic, leads, and sales under the same keywords at absolutely no cost. This is the reason SEO companies have been growing rapidly as the need for professional search engine marketing continues to rise.

But what is it that makes effective SEO website optimization so difficult? Why do we see time and time again businesses fail to receive any rankings at all, let alone maintain them under competitive search terms? Let's take a look.

1. Competition Is Fierce

The most obvious reason that SEO ranking is difficult to achieve is because of the high level of competition all businesses face in today's world. Everyone is competing for the same sales within a market and the more companies out there, the harder it is to stand out from the rest.

2. Lack Of Experience

Proper search engine optimization is even time staking and difficult when performed by true SEO experts and typically takes 2-4 months even when done by the most seasoned professionals. This begins to make it clear why SEO company services are so highly sought after.

3. Poor Keyword Selection

One of the most critical mistakes made by business owners trying to do natural SEO on their own is the actual keywords they attempt to go after and rank highly for. It is a huge mistake for companies to go right away for the more broad and highly searched terms within their niche. The competition is too high and on top of that some of the keywords do not even lead directly to conversions. Go after more specific longer tail keywords or product name brands in the beginning to see faster results.

For the most part, SEO website optimization is a highly difficult skill to master, but at the same time is absolutely vital to the long term success of any business. Be sure to do some of your own SEO marketing and contact an SEO consultant to see what sort of options are available to you on your current budgeting.

Cost Effective Website Submission, and Why it Doesn't Exist in Today's World

The first action routinely taken by the webmaster, or content publisher, upon completion of a work or website is to immediately reach for the search engine submission page or for good software that does the laborious task of submitting URLs across the board - for as little cost as possible and with the greatest effective range.

News flash: what these same people don't realize is that the method of evaluation for web content, or more precisely, how search engines such as Google determine a piece of content's value for the human reader, has changed significantly - the old routines of web publishing are no longer effective, and in fact, can harm a web page's chance of climbing the search result ranks, thus cranking the "cost" skyward through the ceiling.

What happens as a result of your "effective" website submission

When you offer your websites to search engines using the common method - the search engine submission page more often than not to keep cost down - Google puts your site on probation, often because spammers use the tool to get their sites quickly and easily indexed for next to no cost.

So what could this mean for your website? If it's not properly optimized, your site could be penalized as spam, and as a result, be banished from Google's index entirely. Worse still, the chances of your site being identified as spam increase when using automated website submitters, since those are the tools most often exploited by belligerent web publishers. By "saving on cost," you could actually incur a greater cost to your exposure than realized.

The simple explanation: by putting your website URL on the website submission page of a search engine, Google especially, you potentially put your website upon on the chopping block if it doesn't meet Google's stringent requirements.

In that case - how exactly does one get their website noticed by the search engines, and does effective submission actually exist?

The most effective way to get your website noticed by Google and the other search engines is to let it be discovered naturally.

Meaning - do nothing at all! Seriously. Don't use search engine submission pages, and definitely avoid automated submitters. What could be more cost effective than letting Google's spiders index your site for free? Effective submission is a hassle free task.

As for getting your website on top of Google's search rankings, that's another story.

What you will require is a certified SEO writer with the tools to a) know what the popular keyphrases are that people are typing into the search engines and match that information to what your website offers, and b) evaluate Google's language expectations so that the content you do end up publishing pleases both humans and machines alike. If you're looking for something budget-friendly, your dollars could be spent in no better way - this promotional method is but a fraction of the cost of regular advertising media.

So always remember this: effective website submission, or thorough and precise web optimization and letting your website be found naturally (it will happen, don't worry), will let you avoid getting stuck in the search engine dungeon - and could just get you thousands upon thousands more visitors each month to boot. Cost should always be a consideration, but always keep in mind the "hidden cost" of your actions - don't let frugality amount to punishment. Make your submission effective by not submitting at all.

5 Low Cost Effective Ways of Setting Up Incoming Links to Your Website

As you're creating and implementing Search Engine Optimization (SEO) strategies for your website you will for sure be looking into setting up relevant incoming links. Setting up incoming links for your site is one of the most significant keys to success in getting website traffic as search engine spiders look for links coming into and out of your website. While search engines do look at the links going out of your site they consider the links that come into your site more important. The more websites which link to your webpages the more valuable search engines perceive your site to be. Setting up good incoming links will generate more visitors to your site, lead to higher rankings in search engines and more visitors to your site. Of course the more visitors you have, the better your sales and profits.

Here are five low cost effective ways to produce inbound links and get website traffic fast to build your business.

1) Submitting to article directories

Writing articles is a great method for getting inbound links. At the end of your article have a link to your website and if readers are interested they will click to your website to see what else you have to offer. To find out where to submit your articles go to a search engine and do research under "free e-zines" and "free articles" and then submit your article for no charge to relevant article directories.

2) Blogging

Guest blogging on relevant blogs works a lot like article marketing - at the end of your post you can put links to your website.

3) Social Networking Sites

Social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter are a valuable tool for setting up incoming links and generating traffic to your website. By participating in discussions you can create links to your website via your signature. As you participate you will create a profile, post comments, put ideas that generate comments and put links to your site. Get involved - many online discussions and forums are industry specific, find those which match your target market and begin participating.

4) Online directories

While there are many directories that charge for a listing, there are also several that will list your company's site for free. Get on as many of them as you can to give your website more exposure.

5) Reciprocal links

Link exchanging is essentially a link trade, "I'll link to you if you link to me." Reciprocal links are good as long as they are coming from relevant websites and it is done in small doses. If your website sells dog-training products and you're trading links with a furniture website then the search engines spiders are going to discount the link. The trick is to balance reciprocal links with one-way links. Mix up your linking tactics so it looks natural to the search engines. Make sure to note that not all links are created equal. Search engines give more leverage to links from sites which are popular and credible and relevant to your website topic.

If you are concerned about the amount of time it will take to build all of these inbound links, you might want to consider outsourcing to a virtual marketing assistant who specializes in SEO. A virtual assistant SEO specialist brings extensive knowledge and creative techniques of the methods described above, which will lead to effective low cost ways of setting up relevant incoming links to your website.
