To make big money as a ClickBank affiliate marketer you single biggest goal must be to build a significant list in the niche that you target. Designing great pre-sell pages is important. A solid understanding of SEO is vital. But to become a ClickBank super-affiliate you must grow a sizable list--end of story.
The trick is to grow your list. Every pre-sell or review page you put up must have an opt-in form. Every blog you own must have an opt-in list. Articles you submit should have at least one link in your bio box going to a squeeze page to collect names. It takes time, but your list-building activities are vital to your success.
Starting out you will probably not be using PPC ads as your primary traffic-building utility. I say this because PPC advertising is quite sophisticated and you can lose a bundle until you learn the ropes. You will more likely be focusing on free traffic techniques. These may include article marketing, setting up highly SEO'd pre-sell or review pages, WEB 2.0 marketing, etc.
One way to start out getting traffic is to establish a strong presence on sites such as Facebook and Twitter. If you get a strong and targeted following, you can drive traffic to your blog and try to opt visitors in to your list. In your Web 2.0 postings you can offer free reports or videos at your blog. Set up an opt-in form there and collect names. You can then start marketing to those names via email over and over again.
I do not recommend doing a lot of heavy marketing in Web 2.0 sites. People don't like that and I un-friend people who constantly push too hard posting dozens of promotional things daily. Drive them to your blog, opt them in and market to them religiously.
Article marketing can help you grow your list as well. The problem here is that most beginners write a few articles, realize that they are not going to get rich overnight with the exposure from those articles and give up. It takes a lot of quality articles to generate substantial traffic to your pages. It is an ongoing process and you must stick with it over the long haul. However--it does work; it just takes dedication to the process and work over an extended period of time.
Your pre-sell or review pages must be sharp. You must offer bonuses for visitors who buy through your affiliate links (in most niches). Don't try to over-sell. Let the product vendor's sales page do the hard sell for you. Your pre-sell pages should be a chance to interact with your visitors and gain their confidence and trust. If you sound to promotional you will not maximize your efforts. Act as a dispassionate outside reporter giving them just enough information to make them want more--to make them click on your affiliate link to go to the sales page.
